Corporate Social Responsibility

Working with our local community

“Mary Daly, Managing Director, The Food Safety Company, has contributed professionally and personally to the Meals on Wheels operation at Glouthaune Community Centre over the past 20 years.
Mary cooks as a volunteer monthly but in addition prepared the Food Safety Management Plan, based on the principles of HACCP. She also encouraged all volunteers to undertake a Food Safety Training Programme over two evenings at a nearby Hotel. In addition, she prepared a bespoke HACCP Folder for the Kitchen and included Allergy Awareness as part of the offering. Mary checks the weekly records to verify compliance and food safety within the Kitchen. She has supported the Chairperson with Environmental Health Officer reports and the sourcing of new equipment for the kitchen. More recently, Mary organised training around new menu ideas for Meals on Wheels. With the help of a experienced Chef, she shared modern meal ideas using new innovative products to support the Cooks in their task.”

“When Food Cloud was established Mary delivered food safety training to the Founders and put in place a HACCP Plan for their warehouse/hub at Little Island Cork. She attended meetings with The Food Safety Authority of Ireland to facilitate the establishment of Food Cloud. Food Cloud connects businesses that have surplus food with Charities and Community Groups that need it. The Food Safety Company share in the mission statement of Food Cloud to transform surplus food into opportunities to make the world a kinder place.”

The Food Safety Company in conjunction with the Cork Incubator Kitchens organised a Christmas market fundraiser for Cork Simon Community which generated much needed funds for Cork’s homeless as well as donated essential living equipment and goods. The event boasted demonstrations, food samples and delicious local delicacies. It was a great opportunity for local businesses to give back to a worth cause and is a sign of more things to come.
